About the Program
The Digital Health Africa Internship Program 2026 is a 6-month, skill-based learning and impact experience designed for young Africans passionate about digital health, media, and innovation.
Interns will work directly with the DHA team across departments to strengthen Africa’s digital health ecosystem through storytelling, youth engagement, research, and community-building.
This program is a chance to co-create Africa’s digital health future, gaining real experience while contributing to projects that shape the continent’s health innovation narrative.
What You’ll Do
Interns will support DHA’s ongoing work in:
- Media & storytelling
- Youth engagement & student network coordination
- Digital health research
- Policy & advocacy documentation
- Technology and innovation
- Events and partnerships coordination
Interns will work collaboratively across DHA’s departments and programs, including:
1. Media & Communications Department
Create and curate engaging content across DHA’s media channels — from LinkedIn posts and digital stories to podcasts and social media campaigns.
You’ll:
- Write or edit stories highlighting African health innovators
- Support podcast production and guest coordination
- Manage digital campaigns for DHA events and features
2. Programs & Partnerships Department
Assist with event planning, partner coordination, and logistics for DHA programs, workshops, and collaborations.
You’ll:
- Support planning for 2026 events (AI Bootcamp, M&E Workshop, Climate & Health Week)
- Liaise with stakeholders, startups, and partner organizations
- Document program activities and outcomes
3. Research & Insights Department
Work with DHA’s research team to support reports, intelligence briefs, and evidence-based storytelling.
You’ll:
- Assist in data collection and analysis
- Contribute to digital health policy briefs
- Support content for the upcoming Africa Digital Health Directory and Insight Reports
4. Technology & Digital Systems Department
Support technical development, website updates, and digital infrastructure maintenance for DHA’s platforms.
You’ll:
- Help manage the new DHA Media Hub 2.0
- Contribute to product documentation and content uploads
- Test new platform features and user experience
5. Africa Digital Health Student Network (ADHSN) Department
This department drives youth engagement and student involvement in digital health innovation.
You’ll:
- Support coordination of university-based student groups
- Plan and document the ADHSN Innovation Challenge and other youth-led activities
- Liaise with student representatives across African universities
- Curate stories and profiles of emerging student innovators
Learning & Development
Every month, interns will participate in structured training and mentorship sessions led by DHA leaders and invited experts.
Topics include:
- Introduction to Africa’s Digital Health Ecosystem
- Health Communication & Storytelling
- Digital Research Methods
- Project Management for Impact
- Partnerships & Community Building
- Policy, Governance, and Advocacy
- Career & Portfolio Development

Eligibility
This program is open to:
- Young professionals or recent graduates (ages 18–35)
- Passionate about digital health, technology, media, or policy
- Based in Africa or actively involved in Africa-focused initiatives
- Able to commit 8–10 hours per week (January–June 2026)
- Comfortable working remotely and collaboratively

Work Structure
- Mode: Remote
- Reporting: Directly to assigned Department Lead or Operations Lead
- Supervision: Bi-weekly department check-ins
- Deliverables: Assigned tasks aligned with DHA’s 2026 goals
- Hours: 8–10 hours per week, flexible scheduling
