They also attend a major Internet event selected specifically for their profile and interests.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1201\" data-end=\"1308\">This program empowers young leaders to <strong <strong data-start=\"3083\" data-end=\"3092\">18\u201330<\/strong> at the date of the submitted application<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3136\" data-end=\"3213\">\n<p data-start=\"3138\" data-end=\"3213\">Have a high level of <strong data-start=\"3159\" data-end=\"3211\">reading, speaking, and writing skills in English<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3214\" data-end=\"3285\">\n<p data-start=\"3216\" data-end=\"3285\">Be comfortable with <strong data-start=\"3236\" data-end=\"3283\">public speaking and communicating positions<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3286\" data-end=\"3388\">\n<p data-start=\"3288\" data-end=\"3388\">Have continuous <strong data-start=\"3304\" data-end=\"3323\">Internet access<\/strong> during all phases of the program and the appropriate equipment<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3389\" data-end=\"3474\">\n<p data-start=\"3391\" data-end=\"3474\">Be able to dedicate a minimum of <strong data-start=\"3424\" Selection Process?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"3833\" data-end=\"3953\">There is an annual selection process, with applications for each intake opening in the fall. The process has two phases:<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"3955\" data-end=\"3984\"><strong data-start=\"3959\" data-end=\"3984\">1. Online Application<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"3985\" data-end=\"4228\">A selection committee reviews all applications without identifying demographic information. The committee\u2014composed of Internet Society staff, alumni, and leaders from Chapters, Special Interest Groups, and Standing Groups\u2014scores candidates on:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"4230\" data-end=\"4411\">\n<li data-start=\"4230\" data-end=\"4286\">\n<p data-start=\"4232\" data-end=\"4286\">Alignment with Internet Society\u2019s mission and vision<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"4287\" data-end=\"4411\">\n<p data-start=\"4289\" data-end=\"4411\">Demonstrated efforts in building, promoting, and defending an open, globally connected, secure, and trustworthy Internet<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 data-start=\"4413\" data-end=\"4457\"><strong data-start=\"4417\" data-end=\"4457\">2. Online Internet Governance Course<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"4458\" data-end=\"4618\">The highest-scoring applicants take an online course on Internet governance.
