The program supports master\u2019s and doctoral students in gaining valuable experience in environmental nonprofits, grantmaking institutions, and government agencies.<\/p>\n<p>The fellowship seeks to broaden access to environmental careers, especially for students committed to justice, equity, inclusion, and sustainability in environmental leadership.<\/p>\n<p>The program was established through a collaboration between the University of Michigan\u2019s School for Environment and Sustainability, the Environmental Grantmakers Association (EGA), and the C. S. Mott Foundation, and is supported by several philanthropic organizations.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>12-Week Summer Conservation Leadership Fellowship<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:<\/strong> January 4, 2026<br \/>\n<strong>Priority Deadline:<\/strong> December 1, 2025<br \/>\n<strong>Location:<\/strong> United States (various host sites)<br \/>\n<strong>Program Dates:<\/strong> Summer 2026<br \/>\n<strong>Organized by:<\/strong> Yale School of the Environment (YSE)<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Program Goals<\/h3>\n<p>EFP aims to identify and develop a diverse network of future leaders and decision-makers in the fields of <strong>conservation, environmental justice, and philanthropy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Fellows will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Gain hands-on experience through 12-week summer placements.<\/li>\n<li>Strengthen their leadership, communication, and professional skills.<\/li>\n<li>Learn about environmental grantmaking and its local and global impacts.<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to building a more inclusive and equitable environmental sector.<\/li>\n<li>Join an expanding network of environmental professionals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Depending on availability, returning fellows may be invited to participate in the program for a <strong>second year<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Eligibility Criteria<\/h3>\n<p>Applicants must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Have completed <strong>at least one year of graduate or doctoral study<\/strong> by the start of the fellowship.<\/li>\n<li>Be <strong>currently enrolled<\/strong> in a master\u2019s or doctoral program.<\/li>\n<li>Be graduating in <strong>2025 or 2026<\/strong> (students graduating in these academic years remain eligible).<\/li>\n<li>Be available to participate <strong>full-time (40 hours\/week)<\/strong> for the 12-week program, including required orientation and the <strong>New Horizons in Conservation convening<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Be a <strong>U.S. citizen, permanent resident<\/strong>, or <strong>DACA\/DREAMer<\/strong>.\n<ul>\n<li><em>International students enrolled at Yale University are eligible to apply.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>International students studying elsewhere are not eligible at this time.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Application Requirements<\/h3>\n<p>A <strong>complete application<\/strong> includes the following:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Online Application Form<\/strong> (via Submittable portal)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Curriculum Vitae (CV) or Resume<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Graduate School Transcript<\/strong> (unofficial transcripts accepted)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Two Letters of Recommendation<\/strong> (from academic or professional mentors; family and friends not permitted)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> All recommendation letters must be submitted by <strong>January 4, 2026<\/strong>.
