To provide the appropriate accommodation, a\u00a0<strong>case-by-case<\/strong>\u00a0examination is therefore needed.<\/p>\n<p>We are also in touch with the team that hosts the trainees in order to prepare for their arrival and welcome.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"apply\" class=\"gsc-main-section \">\n<div class=\"gsc-container gsc-bge-grid\">\n<div class=\"gsc-bge-grid__area\" data-layout=\"8\">\n<h2>How to apply<\/h2>\n<p>Traineeships are offered\u00a0<strong>twice a year<\/strong>, with each traineeship lasting five months:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 February to 30 June (first period)<\/li>\n<li>1 September to 31 January (second period)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Applications are open for a limited period several months before the start of the traineeship period.<\/p>\n<p>The application procedure for the positive action programme is the same as the main traineeship programme. Find out more on the following page:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"gsc-link-list gsc-u-list-unstyled\" data-block-flow-sm=\"\">\n<li data-icon-start=\"arrow-right\"><a class=\"gsc-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.consilium.europa.eu\/en\/general-secretariat\/careers\/traineeships\/application-procedure\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Applications procedure<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>After you fill in the application and\u00a0<strong>before the closing date of the online application period<\/strong>, you need to send documents proving your disability to\u00a0<a>PAPTD@consilium.europa.eu<\/a>. The proof can be:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a document issued by a national or regional authority or an accredited body in a Member State of the EU;<\/li>\n<li>an EU disability card;<\/li>\n<li>a certificate issued by a medical doctor less than six months ago.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you have a doctor\u2019s certificate, it must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>have been issued in a Member State of the EU and be not more than six months old;<\/li>\n<li>state clearly the condition which the medical doctor considers a disability and include confirmation from the signing medical doctor that, to the best of their understanding, the condition in question is a long-term physical, mental, intellectual or sensory impairment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"testimonials\" class=\"gsc-main-section \">\n<div class=\"gsc-container gsc-bge-grid\">\n<div class=\"gsc-bge-grid__area\" data-layout=\"8\">\n<h2>Testimonials<\/h2>\n<p>Between 2020 and 2024,\u00a0<strong>25 trainees<\/strong>\u00a0with physical, mental, intellectual and sensory impairments worked in different teams at the Council.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"gsc-blockquote \">\n<div><span class=\"gsc-blockquote__quote\">Everybody at the Council has been incredibly kind, warm and welcoming. I think as a next step it would be important to normalise people with disabilities working at the Council, both as trainees and as members of staff<\/span><cite>Lisa<\/cite><\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"gsc-blockquote \">\n<div><span class=\"gsc-blockquote__quote\">Blindness has never affected my decisions, and I have always sought to transform my limits into opportunities, and everybody at the Council understood and even supported that.<\/span><cite>Anna Rita<\/cite><\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This initiative (which started as a pilot project in 2020) was recently awarded the\u00a0<strong>European Ombudsman Award<\/strong>\u00a0for excellence in public administration in the category \u2018Excellence in diversity and inclusion\u2019.
