This initiative seeks bold, innovative, and transformative education projects or research that prepare learners of all ages to care for and protect the planet.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"640\" data-end=\"910\">With the world facing increasingly complex environmental and societal challenges, this call emphasizes the need to design and scale new learning models today that will help people develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to thrive in the future and protect nature.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"912\" data-end=\"915\" \/>\n<h2 data-start=\"917\" data-end=\"947\">Our Approach to Education<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"949\" data-end=\"1173\">Education has been central to National Geographic\u2019s mission since its founding. NGS views education as both a discipline and a practice\u2014one that prepares people with the tools, knowledge, and values needed to enact change.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1175\" data-end=\"1200\">Key guiding principles:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1202\" data-end=\"1746\">\n<li data-start=\"1202\" data-end=\"1333\">\n<p data-start=\"1204\" data-end=\"1333\"><strong data-start=\"1204\" data-end=\"1234\">Education as change-making<\/strong>: Education equips learners with skills, knowledge, and behaviors that lead to meaningful action.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1334\" data-end=\"1460\">\n<p data-start=\"1336\" data-end=\"1460\"><strong data-start=\"1336\" data-end=\"1368\">Educators as diverse leaders<\/strong>: Educators can be professionals or community members who empower learners to take action.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1461\" data-end=\"1626\">\n<p data-start=\"1463\" data-end=\"1626\"><strong data-start=\"1463\" data-end=\"1494\">Learning without boundaries<\/strong>: Education can occur in schools, community settings, or informal spaces, and is valuable across all ages\u2014from children to adults.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1627\" data-end=\"1746\">\n<p data-start=\"1629\" data-end=\"1746\"><strong data-start=\"1629\" data-end=\"1660\">Interdisciplinary solutions<\/strong>: The most effective projects span boundaries of discipline, geography, and culture.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr data-start=\"1748\" data-end=\"1751\" \/>\n<h2 data-start=\"1753\" data-end=\"1795\">What National Geographic Aims to Fund<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1797\" data-end=\"1884\">This funding call supports <strong data-start=\"1824\" data-end=\"1848\">projects or research<\/strong> that design for the future today.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1886\" data-end=\"1910\">Proposals may include:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1912\" data-end=\"2182\">\n<li data-start=\"1912\" data-end=\"2029\">\n<p data-start=\"1914\" data-end=\"2029\"><strong data-start=\"1914\" data-end=\"1936\">Project-based work<\/strong>: Piloting new learning solutions or scaling existing ones with demonstrated effectiveness.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2030\" data-end=\"2182\">\n<p data-start=\"2032\" data-end=\"2182\"><strong data-start=\"2032\" data-end=\"2055\">Research-based work<\/strong>: Measuring the effectiveness of educational innovations that build the capacity of learners to address planetary challenges.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"2184\" data-end=\"2223\">Competitive proposals should include:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2225\" data-end=\"2609\">\n<li data-start=\"2225\" data-end=\"2284\">\n<p data-start=\"2227\" data-end=\"2284\">A clear description of the <strong data-start=\"2254\" data-end=\"2281\">future being envisioned<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2285\" data-end=\"2365\">\n<p data-start=\"2287\" data-end=\"2365\">Innovative educational approaches with <strong data-start=\"2326\" data-end=\"2362\">scalability and impact potential<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2366\" data-end=\"2470\">\n<p data-start=\"2368\" data-end=\"2470\">Defined <strong data-start=\"2376\" data-end=\"2399\">learner communities<\/strong> and the skills, knowledge, and attitudes the project will cultivate.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2471\" data-end=\"2533\">\n<p data-start=\"2473\" data-end=\"2533\">Anticipated <strong data-start=\"2485\" data-end=\"2497\">outcomes<\/strong> for both learners and the planet.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2534\" data-end=\"2609\">\n<p data-start=\"2536\" data-end=\"2609\">Use of <strong data-start=\"2543\" data-end=\"2570\">inclusive methodologies<\/strong> and cross-disciplinary perspectives.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"2611\" data-end=\"2835\">Projects need not rely on technology but may use it as a tool to achieve goals. Topics from NGS focus areas\u2014including <strong data-start=\"2729\" data-end=\"2813\">Ocean, Land, Wildlife, Human Histories and Cultures, Planetary Health, and Space<\/strong>\u2014are all encouraged.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"2837\" data-end=\"2840\" \/>\n<h2 data-start=\"2842\" data-end=\"2863\">Who Should Apply<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2865\" data-end=\"2953\">This highly competitive opportunity is open worldwide to applicants aged 18 and above.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2955\" data-end=\"2990\">Eligibility requirements include:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2992\" data-end=\"3451\">\n<li data-start=\"2992\" data-end=\"3057\">\n<p data-start=\"2994\" data-end=\"3057\">The project must align to <strong data-start=\"3020\" data-end=\"3033\">Education<\/strong> as the primary focus.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3058\" data-end=\"3243\">\n<p data-start=\"3060\" data-end=\"3135\">The project must also connect with at least one of NGS\u2019s six focus areas:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"3138\" data-end=\"3243\">\n<li data-start=\"3138\" data-end=\"3147\">\n<p data-start=\"3140\" data-end=\"3147\">Ocean<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3150\" data-end=\"3158\">\n<p data-start=\"3152\" data-end=\"3158\">Land<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3161\" data-end=\"3173\">\n<p data-start=\"3163\" data-end=\"3173\">Wildlife<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3176\" data-end=\"3208\">\n<p data-start=\"3178\" data-end=\"3208\">Human Histories and Cultures<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3211\" data-end=\"3231\">\n<p data-start=\"3213\" data-end=\"3231\">Planetary Health<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3234\" data-end=\"3243\">\n<p data-start=\"3236\" data-end=\"3243\">Space<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3244\" data-end=\"3313\">\n<p data-start=\"3246\" data-end=\"3313\">Applicants must not be current National Geographic staff members.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3314\" data-end=\"3408\">\n<p data-start=\"3316\" data-end=\"3408\">Applicants must have experience implementing education strategies for learners of any age.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3409\" data-end=\"3451\">\n<p data-start=\"3411\" data-end=\"3451\">Academic degrees are <strong data-start=\"3432\" data-end=\"3448\">not required<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"3453\" data-end=\"3624\">Applicants may apply for <strong data-start=\"3478\" data-end=\"3508\">Level I or Level II grants<\/strong> depending on experience.
