Students receive the scholarships and financial aid throughout the two years of their master\u2019s programme.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Only admitted students to a master\u2019s programme at Sciences Po can join the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at Sciences Po. You can apply to any of the Master\u2019s degree programmes offered at\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencespo.fr\/en\/academics\/graduate-schools\/masters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Sciences Po\u2019s Graduate Schools<\/strong><\/a><strong>, except the dual degree programmes and the one year master\u2019s programme<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ckContent\">\n<h2>Admissions timeline for the 2026-2028 Program<\/h2>\n<p><strong>If you want to apply to both Sciences Po and the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, we strongly advise you to begin preparing and assembling the supporting documents<\/strong>\u00a0you need for your application well in advance, as it will certainly take a long time to obtain some of them (see below).<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Application platform opens:\u00a0<strong>early October 2025<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Application deadline for Master\u2019s programmes and the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program:\u00a0<strong>4th January 2026<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Sciences Po admissions - open in a new window\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencespo.fr\/admissions\/en\/graduate\/international-admissions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sciences Po admissions<\/a>\u00a0decisions released:\u00a0<strong>mid-December 2025, mid-February 2026, early April 2026, depending on the application date<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Scholarship allocation decisions released:\u00a0<strong>early May 2026<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Master\u2019s programmes begin:\u00a0<strong>end of August 2026<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ckContent\">\n<h2>Eligibility criteria for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program<\/h2>\n<p>You must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hold citizenship in a country within Africa.\u00a0<strong>Candidates who hold a second citizenship from a country outside the African continent are not eligible<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Have completed or be currently enrolled in a Bachelor&#8217;s degree programme at one of Sciences Po\u2019s institutions of reference (<a title=\"see the list of institutions - open in a new window\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencespo.fr\/students\/sites\/sciencespo.fr.students\/files\/sciencespo-mastercard-foundation-institutions-partenaires-en.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">see the list of institutions<\/a>).<br \/>\n<strong>Or<\/strong>\u00a0Have completed or are currently enrolled in a training foundation or mentoring programme offered by a bridging programme organisation partnering with the Mastercard Foundation (<a title=\"see the list of institutions - open in a new window\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencespo.fr\/students\/sites\/sciencespo.fr.students\/files\/sciencespo-mastercard-foundation-institutions-partenaires-en.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">see the list of institutions<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li>Be in genuine need of funding for your higher education (please note: documents proving your financial situation will be required for your application).<\/li>\n<li>Show a commitment to achieving change in Africa, particularly in the areas of public policy and major political, environmental and societal transitions.<\/li>\n<li>Be under\u00a0 35 when you begin your Master\u2019s programme.<\/li>\n<li>Not already hold a Master\u2019s degree.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<section class=\"promoted-content-grey\">\n<div class=\"promoted-content-container-grey\">\n<h3>Please note<\/h3>\n<p>Please note that to be admitted at Sciences Po,\u00a0<strong>you must meet the minimum academic requirements<\/strong>\u00a0depending on\u00a0<a title=\"your university\u2019s country of origin - open in a new window\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencespo.fr\/admissions\/en\/graduate\/international-admissions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">international graduate admissions procedure<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We also recommend you to read the\u00a0<a title=\"Sciences Po application guide - Don\u2019t hesitate to follow this page, where valuable information about the Program will be posted regularly.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ckContent\">\n<h3>Application process<\/h3>\n<div class=\"admissions-module--rootInfoDeroulante--38e32 admissions-module--infoDeroulanteClicked--26043\">\n<div class=\"admissions-module--titleListDeroulante--ca9d5\">\n<div class=\"admissions-module--infoDeroulanteTitle--339dd\">Eligibility for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"admissions-module--contentListDeroulante--6a48d\">\n<div class=\"admissions-module--encadre--dba44\">\n<div class=\"ckContent\">\n<p>If you meet the eligibility criteria for the scholarship, you will be exempt from paying the Sciences Po application fee and may submit your application for a master\u2019s programme online for free.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Please note that<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Exemption from paying the Sciences Po application fee doesn&#8217;t mean or guarantee you will be accepted into the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program. Being eligible for the Program doesn\u2019t mean that you will be awarded the scholarship.<\/li>\n<li>If you don\u2019t meet the eligibility criteria for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, you won\u2019t be able to apply for the Program, however, you can still apply to a master\u2019s programme at Sciences Po. In this case, you will need to pay the application fee.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"admissions-module--rootInfoDeroulante--38e32 admissions-module--infoDeroulanteClicked--26043\">\n<div class=\"admissions-module--titleListDeroulante--ca9d5\">\n<div class=\"admissions-module--infoDeroulanteTitle--339dd\">Admission to a Master\u2019s programme at Sciences Po<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"admissions-module--contentListDeroulante--6a48d\">\n<div class=\"admissions-module--encadre--dba44\">\n<div class=\"ckContent\">\n<p>Your\u00a0<strong>overall application<\/strong>\u00a0is evaluated via the international graduate admissions procedure (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencespo.fr\/admissions\/en\/graduate\/international-admissions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">review each step of the procedure<\/a>). At the end of this evaluation process, the Admissions Department will inform you of the outcome of your application. If you are accepted onto a master\u2019s programme, and candidate for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program,\u00a0 your application will proceed to the following steps. Please note that there may be several months between receiving an admission offer from Sciences Po and receiving a scholarship offer. Regardless of when you applied, scholarship decisions will be communicated in early May 2026.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Please note that<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Before starting your application, you must read the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencespo.fr\/admissions\/en\/graduate\/international-admissions\/selection-process\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">eligibility and selection criteria<\/a>\u00a0for a master\u2019s programme at Sciences Po.<br \/>\nImportant: to be admitted to a master\u2019s programme at Sciences Po, you must have obtained excellent academic results during your undergraduates studies. The minimum academic requirements for anglophone countries (around 70-80%) to be accepted at Sciences Po are listed\u00a0(<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/e\/2PACX-1vSgHLsBbXSENgZKgjpEyKQaXCZ-2UcTKxpbstlegjQY7BqRYvNqzoUUzLPls7Prx8yeDtIU6rKYDKP8\/pubhtml?gid=30040017&amp;single=true\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">consult the table of minimum academic requirements<\/a>).\u00a0<strong>If your undergraduate grades are under the minimum required, your application for a master\u2019s at Sciences Po will not be considered<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Your admission onto a Master\u2019s programme is a prerequisite for the assessment of your application for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The only admission procedure for applying to a Master\u2019s programme and the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program is through the\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencespo.fr\/admissions\/en\/graduate\/international-admissions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>international graduate admission procedure<\/strong><\/a>. The domestic procedure is only for candidates who hold a degree from a French university, and is not eligible to the scholarship.<\/li>\n<li>Incomplete applications will not be assessed. This means that if one supporting document from your application is missing (i.e. transcript records from the first year of your Bachelor\u2019s, recommendation letter from a professor etc.), your application will automatically be rejected and not considered.<\/li>\n<li>Acceptance to Sciences Po does not guarantee you will be accepted into the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"admissions-module--rootInfoDeroulante--38e32 admissions-module--infoDeroulanteClicked--26043\">\n<div class=\"admissions-module--titleListDeroulante--ca9d5\">\n<div class=\"admissions-module--infoDeroulanteTitle--339dd\">Evaluation process and shortlisting<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"admissions-module--contentListDeroulante--6a48d\">\n<div class=\"admissions-module--encadre--dba44\">\n<div class=\"ckContent\">\n<p>Once you have been admitted to Sciences Po, your application for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program will be evaluated against the Program\u2019s own criteria. If your application catches the evaluators&#8217; attention, you will receive an invitation email for a remote interview (online).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Please note<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Being admitted to a Master&#8217;s programme does not guarantee you will be shortlisted for an interview for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program. You can be admitted to a master\u2019s programme at Sciences Po, be eligible for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program and not be shortlisted for an interview.<\/li>\n<li>Being shortlisted for an interview does not guarantee you will be selected for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program. You can be accepted onto a Master\u2019s programme, be eligible for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, be shortlisted for an interview and not be awarded the scholarship.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"admissions-module--rootInfoDeroulante--38e32 admissions-module--infoDeroulanteClicked--26043\">\n<div class=\"admissions-module--titleListDeroulante--ca9d5\">\n<div class=\"admissions-module--infoDeroulanteTitle--339dd\">Scholarship award decision<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"admissions-module--contentListDeroulante--6a48d\">\n<div class=\"admissions-module--encadre--dba44\">\n<div class=\"ckContent\">\n<p>Sciences Po\u2019s Scholarship Selection Committee decides collegially on which applicants are awarded scholarships.<\/p>\n<p>The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at Sciences Po Team will inform you whether the selection committee has decided to award you the scholarship. Before you can receive your funding, you must carefully review the rights and obligations set out in your award letter and confirm your acceptance.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"admissions-module--rootInfoDeroulante--38e32 admissions-module--infoDeroulanteClicked--26043\">\n<div class=\"admissions-module--titleListDeroulante--ca9d5\">\n<div class=\"admissions-module--infoDeroulanteTitle--339dd\">Process of supporting and assisting new Scholars<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"admissions-module--contentListDeroulante--6a48d\">\n<div class=\"admissions-module--encadre--dba44\">\n<div class=\"ckContent\">\n<p>The process of supporting and assisting new Scholars begins as soon as the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at Sciences Po Team receives your acceptance of the offer.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ckContent\">\n<h2>Preparing \u00a0your application<\/h2>\n<p>Before you begin your application, please check you meet the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencespo.fr\/admissions\/en\/graduate\/international-admissions\/selection-criteria\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">selection criteria<\/a>\u00a0for Sciences Po&#8217;s graduate programmes and the specific\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencespo.fr\/admissions\/en\/graduate\/language-requirements\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">language requirements<\/a>\u00a0for each programme. Sciences Po offers English, French and bilingual programmes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>We strongly advise you to begin preparing and assembling the supporting documents<\/strong>\u00a0you need for your application well in advance (before the application platform opens):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencespo.fr\/admissions\/en\/graduate\/international-admissions\/application-file\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">supporting documents<\/a>\u00a0required for international graduate admissions to Sciences Po.<\/li>\n<li>Valid photo ID.<\/li>\n<li>Proof of income (or lack thereof) demonstrating your financial circumstances: tax documents and\/or income statements; scholarship certificates; or any other legal document attesting to your financial situation. You must submit at least one document with your application.\u00a0<strong>Bank statements will not be accepted<\/strong>. If you are currently receiving a scholarship (from the Mastercard Foundation or another funding body), or have received one in the past, please also attach the scholarship certificate.<\/li>\n<li>Proof of current or past enrolment\u00a0at one of Sciences Po\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencespo.fr\/students\/sites\/sciencespo.fr.students\/files\/sciencespo-mastercard-foundation-institutions-partenaires-en.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">institutions of reference<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ckContent\">\n<h2>Program\u2019s admission criteria<\/h2>\n<p>The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program is highly selective and the scholarship is awarded on the basis of the following criteria:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Demonstrable adequation between the degree held, the choice of Master\u2019s programme at Sciences Po, the personal and academic background and the future professional plans.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and perceptiveness in understanding and analysis of major contemporary political, economic and societal challenges facing Africa and the rest of the world.<\/li>\n<li>Ambition, originality and tenacity in pursuing entrepreneurial or social impact projects aimed at achieving socio-economic change in Africa.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Students are encouraged to express themselves authentically in their motivation letters and to draw on specific experiences to explain how joining the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program will enable them to achieve change.\u00a0<strong>Misuse of Artificial Intelligence to answer the questions will prove a disadvantage to the application<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In line with the values of inclusion, diversity and equal opportunities, which underpin the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, special consideration will be given to applications from refugees, displaced persons and persons with disabilities.<\/p>\n<section class=\"promoted-content-black\">\n<div class=\"promoted-content-container-black\">\n<h3>Important<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The offer to join the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at Sciences Po is valid only for the intake of the year in which you were selected.<\/li>\n<li>If you choose to defer your admission at Sciences Po for one year, you will no longer be able to apply for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program.<\/li>\n<li>If you do not meet the scholarship eligibility criteria, you will not be able to apply for the Program but may proceed with your application to Sciences Po once you have paid the application fee.<\/li>\n<li>We also recommend applying for the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencespo.fr\/students\/en\/fees-funding\/bursaries-financial-aid\/scholarships-non-european-students\/#boutmy-scholarship\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Emile Boutmy scholarship<\/a>. If you wish to apply for multiple scholarships, you must submit your application by the earliest deadline.
