The Lab has officially launched its 2026 Call for Ideas, inviting high-impact, scalable climate finance solutions from innovators around the world. Applications must be submitted by November 9, 2025, at 11:59 PM PST<\/strong>. Successful ideas will receive in-depth technical support, access to global investors, and eligibility for USD 150,000 to 250,000 in conditional grant financing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

What the Lab Is Looking For<\/h2>\n

The 2026 cycle will select eight innovative solutions<\/strong> focused on accelerating climate finance in emerging markets through regional programming. The Lab is particularly interested in models that draw on local expertise and respond directly to climate and financing gaps in target countries.<\/p>\n

Priority regions for this call include:<\/p>\n

1. Africa \u2013 Mitigation<\/h3>\n

African economies face some of the world\u2019s most severe climate risks, ranging from droughts and natural disasters to extreme heat and flooding. At the same time, the continent\u2019s rapid urbanization and demographic growth position it to become a leader in low-carbon and climate-resilient transformation.<\/p>\n

While climate finance flows to Africa reached USD 43.7 billion recently, the continent requires nearly USD 190 billion annually. This leaves a financing gap of more than USD 146 billion every year. The Lab seeks practical, financially viable solutions that can help bridge this gap by supporting clean energy expansion, sustainable agriculture, green urban growth, and climate-smart economic opportunities for youth and women.<\/p>\n

With support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy<\/strong>, the Lab will prioritize bold, scalable mitigation concepts that leverage blended finance, private capital, and financial innovation to transition African economies toward low-carbon growth.<\/p>\n
