This prestigious program offers aspiring researchers across the social sciences an opportunity to pursue postgraduate study at one of <strong data-start=\"702\" data-end=\"735\">eight leading UK universities<\/strong>, with full financial support that includes tuition fees, a living stipend, and a research training grant.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"845\" data-end=\"1169\">If you hold a <strong data-start=\"859\" data-end=\"880\">Bachelor\u2019s degree<\/strong>, you can apply directly for this scholarship \u2014 no prior Master\u2019s degree is required. The MGS DTP provides several funding routes, including the popular <strong data-start=\"1033\" data-end=\"1050\">1+3.5 pathway<\/strong>, which covers one year of Master\u2019s study in Social Science Research followed by a three-and-a-half-year PhD program.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1171\" data-end=\"1315\">The application deadline is <strong data-start=\"1199\" data-end=\"1240\">Tuesday, 13 January 2026 at 12:00 GMT<\/strong>, and successful applicants will begin their studies in <strong data-start=\"1296\" data-end=\"1312\">October 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"1317\" data-end=\"1320\" \/>\n<h3 data-start=\"1322\" data-end=\"1355\">What the Scholarship Covers<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1357\" data-end=\"1431\">All successful candidates will receive a <strong data-start=\"1398\" data-end=\"1412\">full award<\/strong>, which includes:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1432\" data-end=\"1638\">\n<li data-start=\"1432\" data-end=\"1490\">\n<p data-start=\"1434\" data-end=\"1490\"><strong data-start=\"1434\" data-end=\"1450\">Tuition fees<\/strong> paid directly to the host university.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1491\" data-end=\"1556\">\n<p data-start=\"1493\" data-end=\"1556\">A <strong data-start=\"1495\" data-end=\"1518\">maintenance stipend<\/strong> of \u00a319,237 per year (2024\/25 rate).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1557\" data-end=\"1638\">\n<p data-start=\"1559\" data-end=\"1638\">Access to a <strong data-start=\"1571\" data-end=\"1598\">research training grant<\/strong> and professional development support.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1640\" data-end=\"1991\">Both <strong data-start=\"1645\" data-end=\"1653\">home<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1658\" data-end=\"1684\">international students<\/strong> are eligible to apply. Funded by the <strong data-start=\"2462\" data-end=\"2509\">Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC)<\/strong>, the DTP awards a significant number of studentships every year to outstanding applicants pursuing both disciplinary and interdisciplinary research.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2662\" data-end=\"2997\">Applicants can choose from <strong data-start=\"2689\" data-end=\"2713\">17 training pathways<\/strong>, covering fields such as sociology, economics, education, psychology, politics, and more. You may only apply to one pathway at one institution.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"4262\" data-end=\"4519\">\n<p data-start=\"4265\" data-end=\"4519\"><strong data-start=\"4265\" data-end=\"4306\">Apply for Admission to the University<\/strong><br data-start=\"4306\" data-end=\"4309\" \/>Submit a <strong data-start=\"4321\" data-end=\"4350\">PhD admission application<\/strong> to your chosen university by <strong data-start=\"4380\" data-end=\"4399\">1 December 2025<\/strong>.
