IKI Small Grants provides funding between 60,000 and 200,000 euros. The\u00a0<strong>7th IKI Small Grants \u2018Call for Proposals\u2019\u00a0<\/strong>launched on 17<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0November, 2025 and the application period\u00a0<strong>closes 15<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0January, 2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Updated application procedure to simplify the process for applicants<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>IKI Small Grants has recently updated its application process, introducing an assessment of the eligibility criteria before inviting applicants to complete the project proposal. This reduces the workload for organisations that would not have met the eligibility criteria.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligibility check ensures that only valid project proposals can be submitted<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The IKI Small Grants team will review the submitted information and confirms eligibility to the eligible organisations by 2nd February, 2026. Only organisations that qualified eligible are invited to submit their\u00a0<strong>project proposals<\/strong>\u00a0with details of the project idea and budget. \u00a0Project proposals have to be submitted\u00a0<strong>by 17th March, 2026<\/strong>\u00a0and must meet the criteria outlined in the following documents and below. The project start should be planned for the first quarter of 2027 or later.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Requested funding volume<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Budget must be within the limits specified in the email that will be sent to eligible organisations. IKI Small Grants selects project proposals with a total funding volume between EUR 60,000 and EUR 200,000. Furthermore, the requested funding volume must not exceed the average annual revenue of the implementing organisation over the past three years.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Geographic scope of the projects<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Projects must be implemented on a local, sub-national or national level.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-group text-block-group has-background is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-8cf370e7 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Project proposals must focus on one or more of the following IKI funding areas:<\/h1>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions<\/li>\n<li>Adaptation to the impacts of climate change<\/li>\n<li>Conserving natural carbon sinks with a focus on reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation<\/li>\n<li>Conserving biological diversity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Effective Climate and Biodiversity Projects Worldwide<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Since the beginning of the program in 2019, more than 250 local project ideas and individual measures have been selected across two different funding lines. Through project work, around 48,000 people have already been supported in effectively strengthening their resilience to the negative impacts of climate change. Forwarding funds is not permitted.<\/li>\n<li>Research projects, unless they have a strong implementation component. This means basic research projects with a primary focus on data collection, evaluation, and publications are not eligible as such. However, a project that has its main focus on addressing the needs of target groups and achieving substantial changes in the IKI Small Grants\u2019 funding areas is welcome to carry out project-related research as a side activity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>B: What else is required from organisations that want to apply?<\/strong><\/h1>\n<div class=\"wp-block-group text-block-group has-background\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p>Applicants should be\u00a0<strong>not-for-profit<\/strong>\u00a0organisations and private companies only if they pursue strictly non-profit objectives as part of their proposed project.\u00a0<strong>No individuals, natural persons, one-person organisations or governmental organisations are eligible<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Applicant organisations must have been\u00a0<strong>operative for at least three years<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past three years, applicant organisations must have generated an\u00a0<strong>average annual revenue of at least EUR 60,000 and no more than EUR 500,000.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The applicant organisation must have\u00a0<strong>dedicated accounting staff<\/strong>\u00a0and have accounting principles that ensure\u00a0<strong>internal as well as external control mechanisms<\/strong>\u00a0and must also employ a\u00a0<strong>software-based accounting system<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>C: When can I expect a first contact from IKI Small Grants?<\/strong><\/h1>\n<div class=\"wp-block-group text-block-group has-background\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p>After the registration period ends 15th January 2026, submitted applications undergo a thorough check and are treated with the utmost care and attention.<\/p>\n<p>Afterwards, organisations receive confirmation if eligible to continue the application process and have to submit their project proposals. As soon as the selection process has been finalised, all submitting organisations will be informed.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, please refrain from inquiries about the status of your proposal.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>D: Can I hand in an application in any language other than English?<\/strong><\/h1>\n<div class=\"wp-block-group text-block-group has-background\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p><strong>Applications must be submitted in English<\/strong>.
